The Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens is an extreme ultra-wide zoom, wide-aperture lens that delivers edge-to-corner sharpness that can surpass that of equivalent fixed focal-length lenses. It features a Nano Crystal coating to reduce the effects of ghost and flare, combined with 2 ED (Extra-low Dispersion) elements and PGM aspherical lenses that help control chromatic aberrations. These all combine to enhance sharpness and contrast.
The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) feature provides swift autofocus with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet operation. This G-type lens does not feature an aperture ring on the lens body, resulting in a lighter and more compact lens. Aperture changes are designed to be done via the camera’s command dial.
AF-S feature is not supported by certain older camera models. Please click here for a list of compatible models.
“G” type lenses are not fully compatible with the F4, N90-series, N70, N8008-series and N6006 (or older model) cameras, only programmed auto or shutter-priority auto exposure mode can be used.

A terrific specialty lens
This lens is likely not for everyone. However, for the photographer who does a lot of architectural and interior photography, or who likes expansive landscapes, this is a great lens. I compared it at a setting of (close to) 15mm and it equals, or exceeds, the sharpness of my fixed focal length 15mm f3.6 Nikkor, my other favorite for architectural photography. It also beats my fixed focal length (older) 24mm f2.8 manual AIS lens (used in manual mode on my Nikon F4S film and D3x digital camera bodies). The only downside is that it is not a small and lightweight lens, so for casual travel photography, this would be a lot to carry around, especially with one of the larger Nikon digital SLR bodies. There is also minimal barrel distortion that I noted at the 14mm setting. This could be corrected in the various photo manipulation software packages if needed.Read full review...

I'd never had an opportunity to spend "quality time" with a very wide angle lens like this - it takes some getting used to (and I'm definitely still getting used to it) but it opens up a great range of new perspectives (i just have to make sure my feet stay out the frame! :-) ) The f/2.8 makes it fast enough to shoot in lower light, and with the wide angle you have tremendous depth of field so focus is very forgiving too. very rectilinear - amazingly so, should be a fun lens - hope i can do it justice ...Read full review...

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 G ED Ultra Wide Angle Zoom Lens
Consistent f/2.8 aperture
Works on FX and DX bodies
Auto focus motor in lens is fast and quiet
Barreling at the 18mm and 24mm focal lengths is less than my manual focus AIS prime lenses
Lens works well with my other Nikon f/2.8 zoom lenses (20-35mm, 35-70mm, 80-200mm)
Keeps straight-lines straight (does not bend straight lines like my 16mm fisheye)
Large lens; not inconspicuous
Large exposed glass in front of lens is subject to damage
Front of lens blocks light from built-in flash
No depth of field scale
No filter thread on front or back of lens
No f/stop ring; f/stop must be set through the camera body (my biggest complaint)
Lens does not work on my Nikon F2 because F2 needs an f/stop ring to set aperture and this “G” lens does not have one.
On Nikon F4 and N70, this “G” lens works only in shutter priority mode and program mode
On my Nikon F4 and N70, this “G” lens does not work in aperture priority mode or manual modeRead full review...
Sees the big picture
This wide angle lens is a great complement. It allows you to get the widest shot and still have good depth with low lighting. The f2.8 is constant throughout the range 14-24. I got some nice pictures of opening day. Everything is in focus!Read full review...

NIKKOR 14-24 Great Real Estate/landscape Lense
The Angry Photographer on YouTube says Nikon makes hundreds of lens, but as a Realtor, we have to have this one and either the 10-24 or (better quality12-24) Nikon lenses. I purchased used on EBay and have been using them both for video and HDR photos through Photomatix 5.1.3 software. Huge improvement in my photos with bracketing. Using Nikon D7200 camera. Phenomenal clarity even in low lighting. Great lensRead full review...

The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens is a MONSTER!! Although some photographers consider it to be a waste when attached to a DX format camera, due to the fact that the 1.5x cropping factor screws up the focal length (bumps it up from 12-24 mm to 21-38 mm) and causes the lens to lose some of its wide viewing angle, the picture quality is still insanely clear.
If you are looking for an ultra sharp, wide angle lens (ultra-wide on an FX-format Nikon camera, such as the D810) that is capable of capturing minuscule details your eyes cannot see (especially if you intend on doing night photography) and feels (like) solid (photography gold), then this is definitely the go-to lens. Just be aware that this lens is extremely heavy compared to other lenses (like the Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 VR II lens), weighing in at 1kg or 2.2 lbs on its own.Read full review...

Excellent Lens! LOVE IT! I use it constantly, the effect is wonderful, and so is the clarity! Stays in my bag, all the time.
This lens is a beast! The clarity and effect is amazing! I love the lens, and use it extensively on astro-photography and landscapes. It is a solid lens, and some may find it heavy. I do not find that an issue. I prefer quality, and with that comes the weight from all that good coated glass.
As far as durability, it is durable, but be careful not to scratch the lens, as it sticks out (but not past the pedaled hood). It is a wonderful lens, and if you can afford it, I highly recommend. If you prefer to use 77mm filters, go with the 16-35mm. Its also a great lens (just not as sharp in the corners)!
It does not have VR, but it is not needed at all (on my D750 or D810e). Even at 2.8, the area of focus is very wide. In low light, bump up the ISO. Chances are you are using this on a modern camera, which has small amounts of noise with a higher ISO. I use a tripod a lot, but that is mostly for night time photography. I wouldn't hesitate to use this hand-held even in shade.
The clarity is across all apertures, and the DOV is very wide too (even at 2,8).
The only downside to this lens, is the bulbous front element. It catches light, which creates flair and it also makes the options for filters and filter adapters very expensive ($500 +/-) I knew this before purchasing, and I didn't hesitate. I am completely satisfied with this lens, and would buy it again, if needed.Read full review...

One of it's kind; phenomenal, amazing!!!
The reason I bought this is due to the quality optics by Nikon which I trust, and the 14-24mm focal lens that is a very special purpose that is one of it's kind, and the F/2.8 for the night sky pictures. Originally I was going to get the 16-35mm F/4 which would allow use of filters, but I was just too convinced already that I wanted that extra 2mm focal length, F/2.8 aperture, and due to the low distortions especially.
I actually went to Samy's camera and spent a good time testing the 14-24, 16-35, 20 prime, and 25 prime. None of them showed lines on the edges as straight as the 14-24 did, and none of them were as sharp everywhere especially on the edges as well.
The sharpness and clarity in images created by this beast is unbelievable. You really need to go to your local camera store and test it out on a D810, which I did. It is sharpest at 16mm @ F/2.8 according to DXO score, and it has the highest score of any ultra wide zoom lens. Yes, the lens is heavy but feels and looks like a piece of art. This lens is great for those also that want the F/2.8 for the night sky pictures.
The ONLY drawback to this beauty is not being able to use filters, unless you do not mind spending $ on custom filters that are NOT on the cheap side. I actually ended up buying the WonderPana 66 FreeArc Essentials 0.6SE Kit of this beauty and can't wait to test it out. Don't even think about using this on a DX camera. This beauty is made for FX cameras. Highly recommended!Read full review...
Great, but takes getting use to.
This is an outstanding lens. It doesn't require me to state that, as almost every review is the same. It does take a bit of getting use to with the wide and bulging front element, and finding a way to fit it into an ordinary camera bag is a challenge.Read full review...

Astounding sharpness at extremely wide angles - what else can you ask for?
This lens is absolutely astounding. It's clearly one of the best Nikkor lenses ever made. The sharpness at 24mm is far better than the similarly impressive Nikkor 24-70mm telephoto (which I also own). Even at 14mm, you get excellent sharpness. The lens is big and beefy, though being more stout than the 24-70mm makes it a bit more balanced and slightly easier to carry. You do need to be careful with the lens as there are no filters which can be used to protect it. But in fact, the "hat" cap is actually much easier to put on and remove than the regular squeeze lens caps. The only grip I have is the very limited built-in hood is a bit small. Coupled with the ultra-wide perspective, this creates flares quite easily - great if you want that effect, but annoying otherwise. However, the lens is so great - this somewhat minor quirk is largely irrelevant. I keep this lens on the camera all the time now, and the 24-70mm only comes if I'm expecting to need some significant zoom.
